Create an iPad Sleeve with Re-used Plastic Bags

In this episode, we once again melt plastic bags for the foundation of our project. Using some basic sewing Michelle creates a fun sleeve for an iPad.

To follow along, gather up these supplies:

  • 4-6 plastic grocery bags
  • Iron
  • Ironing board
  • Cotton quilt batting (I used Warm Co. batting purchased at my local craft/quilt store)
  • Sewing machine
  • Thread (I used cheap cotton thread I found in my sewing box)
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Two large sheets of paper
  • Sticky backed velcro

The official dimensions for the iPad are:

Height: 9.56 inches (242.8 mm) Width: 7.47 inches (189.7 mm) Depth: 0.5 inch (13.4 mm) Use these measurements as a guide for how big your fabric should be. The piece of plastic/fabric used to make the sleeve in this show measured about 25 inches x 10 inches before it was trimmed down to size after it was sewn.
